I had met some divers aboard the ship. We agreed to go diving on our own at the first port.

 

  

The first dive site was on the coral reefs off Georgetown, Grand Cayman Island B.W.I.

We arrived in port by shuttle boat.

We found a diving concession a half-mile from the pier.

 

The dive boat was not crowded. There were 12 divers aboard plus the captain, helper, and two dive masters. (Some were on the upper deck when this photo was taken).

This is one of the divers beginning her descent. The rope is there to help the divers after their dive is finished to find their way back from the bottom to the dive boat. The key is to remember bottom landmarks and use your compass to return to the rope.
