For many activities it is a good idea to learn something about what you will be doing before you start.

The signal flags in the upper corners are international signs that divers are nearby.

NOT a scuba diver

I found a dive school nearby and learned the basics for scuba diving.

  • Scuba involves swimming with equipment that has some unusual names. The word "SCUBA" itself is an abbreviation for "self contained underwater breathing apparatus".

  • "Buoyancy compensation device" and "secondary air source" were new to me.

  • And what you wear on your feet are NOT "flippers". They are called "fins".
